Whether you are new to boarding, or a paddling pro wanting to try before you buy or improve your technique, there is no doubt that you will have fun once you are out on the water. Have a look at our sessions on offer to find the perfect one for you.

Both The Swan Hotel guests and non-hotel guests are welcome and board hire is on a first come, first served basis so on-the-day walk up bookings are available, but please try and book online if you can to save disappointment.

The Paddle Hut Board Hire

includes board hire, leash, paddle, buoyancy aid

  • 2 hours = £30 per person
  • 4 hours = £60 per person

We recommend 2 hours as a minimum to allow for a leisurely paddle along the river and more time out on the lake without rushing back. 1 hour hire for £20pp is available as a walk-up enquiry on the day direct from The Paddle Hut.

Enjoy a relaxing 2 hours of paddleboarding along the River Leven to the foot of Lake Windermere taking in the sights of the beautiful Lake District National Park. Your hire slot includes use of our Red Paddle Co paddleboards (a fantastic all-round inflatable board) along with a height adjustable paddle, coiled safety leash and buoyancy aid each. Wetsuits are available to hire at an additional £5 per person.

We look after all our customers so even if you have been paddleboarding before, we will demonstrate a safety and basic skills briefing to all our hirers before you enter the water to ensure everyone is comfortable, safe, knows the area and is fully prepared for the activity.

All participants must be able to swim at least 50m. Only 1 person is permitted per board, with the exception of anyone aged 5 - 8 who may share a board with an adult and will be safely positioned sat down on the front of the board. Anyone aged 8 - 18 years old wishing to hire will have their own board, but must have an adult accompanying them out on the water at all times. Our standard 10'6" boards have a 95kg weight limit and our 10'8" boards can hold slightly more for those wishing to have a young child or dog on board with them.

This booking does not include an Instructor coming out with you onto the water - we do advise beginners to have a lesson before paddleboarding on their own. If you would like an Instructor session then please choose one of our groups/private lesson slots.

Master the Basics

If you are new to paddleboarding or have just bought your own and want to further your paddling goals then we are here to help you on your way. With an experienced paddler we will offer you tips and advice, make you feel relaxed and confident on your board, all whilst showing you the best trick of all: to always have fun!

Family Lesson

1.5 Hours | For Upto 6 People | Aged 8+ | Includes Instructor & Equipment Hire | Minimum Booking = 1 Adult & 1 Child

  • Adult = £40.00 pp (18+)
  • Child = £35.00 pp (Ages 8 - 18)

Head out onto the water with an Instructor and enjoy a fun-filled session learning some basic skills as a family, including paddling from kneeling to standing, rescue paddle races and how to fall off safely and get back on your board. Expect to get wet and have a laugh – we’ve no doubt the kids will come back as paddling pros and the adults will have had fun being big kids for the day!

All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult, therefore the minimum number of participants per booking is 1 adult and 1 child. The maximum ratio per adult is 1:3, meaning 4 children must be accompanied by 2 adults (this does not include an Instructor).

Giant Multi-Person Board

For 3 - 8 People | At least 1 adult must be on board with children under 18

  • 1 Hour Hire : £20 per person

Paddle together on our Red Paddle Co XL Ride paddleboard and create lots of fun memories on the water! With space on board for 3-8 people, enjoy an hour of group paddling along the River Leven towards the foot of Lake Windermere.

Work together on your group skills and co-ordination, or simply create your own fun - expect to get wet (if you want to jump in) and laugh A LOT! You can comfortably sit, kneel or stand - even eat a picnic lunch or sunbathe on board while you take turns paddling.

Due to its popularity, we offer 1-hour slots to allow more people to have a go throughout the day, but if you wish to paddle for longer; just simply book consecutive slots (if available). A maximum of 6 adults is advised to allow enough paddling space on board, but if there's a mix of adults and children then upto 8 participants will fit.

Kayak Package

Includes kayak, paddle and buoyancy aid

  • 2 hour hire: £30 Single | £40 Double
  • 4 hour hire: £60 Single | £70 Double

As well as paddleboarding, we also offer single and double sit-on-top kayaks, so if you’re looking for a relaxing paddle with a seat and back support then our kayaks are for you!

Add on a wetsuit for an extra £5pp at the time of booking or on the day of arrival.

All participants must be able to swim at least 50m.

Only 1 person is permitted per single kayak. The double kayak is for 2 people (a small-medium dog can also fit on board).

We are happy for children aged 10+ to try kayaking if conditions are suitable, but anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult and supervised at all times when out on the water (either in the same kayak, or alongside them in a single).

Please note: This booking does not include an Instructor coming out with you onto the water.

Team-Building SUP Session

1.5 Hours | For 4 - 16 People | 18+ | £50pp* | Includes Instructor, Equipment Hire & SUP Activities

This is the perfect package for larger groups who want that extra splash of fun! With your work colleagues, friends or hens & stags, you will learn SUP skills and enjoy team-building challenges paddling along the river and out onto the lake. Work together and dive in to our paddle games – expect to get wet, laugh a LOT and come back to shore wanting to do it all again!
